Rolex Day-Date Tiffany & Co 18039

US$23,000.00

Description

This is the Rolex Day-Date 18039 co-stamped Tiffany & Co. Within the Rolex line, the Day-Date is often the model that is associated with the highest level of luxury. Introduced in 1956, it was the first timepiece to display both the day and the date on the dial. Traditionally associated with prestige, the Day-Date line was produced almost solely in precious metals (except in steel prototypes) with an option of a smooth or fluted bezel.

The reference 18039 was the successor of what is widely known as the most popular vintage Day-Date reference, the 1803. Boasting several upgrades such as a sapphire crystal and importantly, a Cal. 3055 movement with a quickset date function, the five-digit reference remained in production for a decade before giving way to the double-quickset 18239.

The partnership between Rolex and Tiffany & Co began in the 1950s. A marriage between two powerhouses in their respective industries, Tiffany-stamped Rolexes were produced until the 1990s where the partnership ended after Rolex decided to stop producing co-signed watches. Often commanding a high premium over the same models with standard dials, retailer-signed Rolexes remain scarce and collectible.

A model that exemplifies status, the Rolex Day-Date with its accompanying President bracelet has always been the epitome of luxury since its introduction almost seven decades ago. While the signature is subtle, the brand equity of Tiffany & Co and rarity of a retailer-signed Rolex renders this among the most desirable.

Condition

This Rolex Day-Date Tiffany & Co Day-Date is in good overall condition. The case remains thick with round and even lugs and all hallmarks visible on the caseback. The bezel is sharp and the 8386 bracelet has minor stretch due to age with a total of five screws where three are removable. The E clasp code is period correct and the engravings between the lugs are still clear. The dial has some signs of aging with light spotting present. There is some paint loss at the 11 o’clock marker and two noticeable areas of paint loss as shown in the photos - one above the Tiffany & Co signature and the other between the 9 o’clock and the hand pivot. The watch is in full working order.
