Breguet Classique Moonphase 3330BA

This is the Breguet Classique Moonphase reference 3330. While Breguet may not be the first brand mentioned by collectors today, the brand has one of the strongest legacies when it comes to watchmaking. Originally established in the late 18th century, Louis Breguet was an early adopter of the steel hands with circle motifs, the curved numerals and the guilloche pattern on the dial. The design language is distinctive even up till today. The “Souscription”, a single-hand pocket watch, is one of the most important and famous pocket watches in history. In the early 19th century, Louis Breguet invented the Tourbillion, which is one of the most sought after complications in horology.

Encased in yellow gold, the dial layout resembles early Breguet pocket watches with many distinctive featuers such as a guilloche dial, coin-edge casing and concentric blue hands. The reference 3330 consists of day, month and moonphase complication and was produced in the late 90s to early 2000s, a period that produced highly distinctive Breguets that have recently regained popularity. The day and month apertures are on either side of the off-centre markers with the moonphase function at the 12, presenting a highly legible and symmetrical dial. Finally, the movement is the Breguet Cal. 502.3 QSE1 based on the ultra-thin F Piguet 71 which is housed beneath the closed caseback.

With a case size of 36mm and a thickness of only 7mm, the 3330 is a stunning dress piece that fits perfectly under the sleeve. While Breguets have traditionally been fairly undervalued considering the historical significance and fine watchmaking associated with the brand, it is encouraging to see that the brand has seen a significant increase in interest, especially the ones from the neo-vintage period.

This Breguet 3330 is in very good pre-owned condition. There are some light hairlines on the case from prior use but no dings or dents. The caseback has some apparent hairline scratches but the engravings are still crisp and the dial is clean with off-coloured day and date wheels. It comes with its original box and filled but undated papers and retains its original Breguet strap and yellow gold deployment buckle. The watch is in full working order.
