Rolex Datejust 16014 Grey Buckley
Description
This is the Rolex Datejust 16014 “Buckley”. The Datejust is Rolex’s staple, their best selling and most famous dress model in the Rolex lineup. The Datejust was originally released in 1945 as the first automatic watch with a date function. Through the years, the Datejust has evolved greatly. A variant that tends to be in demand is the Buckley. Most commonly found on models dated between the 1970s to 1980s, the Buckley is unique in that the indices are painted rather than printed on. These painted numerals are consistent across all Buckley dials. As with other Datejusts, the beloved Buckley nickname was bestowed on this variant by collectors. It was named after John Buckley, a vintage jeweller in New York who was a proponent of these unique painted on dials which were less popular at that time. Given the uncommon nature of the Buckley variant, it’s little wonder that they have become one of the more collectible Datejust variants today. The fact that this is less common grey dial adds further to its rarity.
Condition
This Rolex Datejust 16014 is in extremely good vintage condition. There are very light signs of wear on the case consistent with its age but nothing significant to show its age. The dial and crystal are clean and the watch runs at +1s / d.
