This is the Minerva Chronograph. Minerva was established in 1858 in Villeret, Switzerland as H & C Robert. In 1887, Minerva was registered as a brand. Minerva is the namesake of the Greek goddess of wisdom, war, art, schools and commerce. In 1908, their first chronograph movement was introduced - the Caliber 19-9. The more famous Caliber 13-20 was introduced in 1923. Initially a monopusher chronograph, the bi-pusher configuration was introduced after 1940. Minerva was capable of surviving the quartz crisis due to the quality and finishing of their mechanical chronographs. Most recently, Richemont bought out Minerva in 2006, resulting in Minerva falling under the umbrella of Montblanc and producing movements for them. This Minerva chronograph measures 35mm in case size with fixed lugs and bi-pushers on either side of the crown. This particular Minerva runs on a Valjoux 22 column wheel movement with two sub registers.

Condition

This Minerva Chronograph runs on the Valjoux 22 movement. The steel case is still in very good condition. The chronograph still functions very well and resets to zero consistently. The movement has been regulated with a new Minerva fourth wheel added due to wear and tear of the existing wheel. It retains its original numbered steel caseback. The dial has some signs of oxidation but remains clean except for a small mark near the 5 o’clock marker. The tachymetre remains legible. Overall, very good condition for its age.
