Description

This is the IWC Ingenieur 3521. Originally introduced in the 1950s under the reference 666, the Ingenieur was powered by the Pellaton winding system that was designed by Albert Pellaton. The winding system was also used to power other famous IWC Calibres such as the Calibre 89. In the 70s, the legendary Gerald Genta was hired by IWC to redesign their flagship sports model. The integrated bracelet was reminiscent of other Genta designs such as the Royal Oak and the popularity of the original Ingenieur, the 1832, has seen a recent surge. This particular reference, the 3521, was introduced in the mid 90s and discontinued in 2001. It uses a JLC Calibre 889/2 movement as a base and the case is reminiscent of Genta’s 1832 design with the stainless steel bezel and integrated bracelet.

Condition

This IWC 3521 is in very good pre-owned condition. The crystal is nick-free and the dial is clean. The caseback remains in very good condition for its age with minor hairlines from prior wear. The bezel has some light hairlines from prior use consistent with its age. The bracelet has minimal stretch and will fit a wrist of up to 7” with 5 removable links.
