Habring² Erwin LAB 01
Description
This is the Habring² Erwin LAB 01. Habring² is an independent brand founded by Austrian couple, Maria Kristina and Richard Habring. While the name may seem unfamiliar to most, Richard Habring was the man in charge of producing the rattrapante, or split-seconds chronograph, at IWC and together with his wife, produces a very small number of watches a year with their eponymous brand, Habring². William Massena is an industry heavyweight, serving his time at early watch forum Timezone to running Antiquorum. He founded Massena Lab, his own brand, in 2018 and began collaborating with various independent brands to produce a slew of timepieces with his distinct design language. The Erwin Lab 01 was the first collaboration between the two brands. Running on a modified Valjoux 7750 movement, a significant feature is what is now Habring²’s signature, the deadbeat seconds, where the seconds hand ticks once per second rather than the typical five to ten times per second. This is not a common complication and requires a high degree of difficulty to execute, with those not in the know often mistaking it as a quartz movement. With a 38.5mm case made of a bronze alloy and bronze-coloured indices, this was released in a limited edition of 50 pieces in 2018 and sold out worldwide, marking the first of later successful collaborations.
Condition
This Habring² Erwin LAB 01 is in very good pre-owned condition with no major dings or nicks on the case. The front and back sapphire remains in perfect condition. The case has some signs of patina which is common on bronze cases. It also comes with the original box, papers and an extra set of hands. The watch is in full working order.
