Description

This is the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Day-Date Moonphase 25594ST, “The Owl”. For all the rage about Royal Oaks, it’s worth noting that Audemars Piguet actually started with the manufacturing of complicated timepieces. Their first grand complication, a pocket watch, was released back in 1899. This was followed by the thinnest calibre for a pocket watch in the early 1900s, the first skeletonized pocket watch and the world’s thinnest wrist watch. Significant to the history of horology, Audemars Piguet was a key contributor to the world of complicated timepieces. This 25594ST is a marriage between their flagship sports model, the Royal Oak, and a day-date moonphase complication. Its nickname is as such because of its similarities to an owl. Despite its modest 36mm case size, it has the presence of a traditional Royal Oak and is suitable for most wrist sizes. While Audemars Piguet has produced several lines such as the Jules Audemars, Edward Piguet and recently the Code 11:59, the Royal Oak is undoubtedly their signature and remains one of the most highly sought after models within the AP catalogue.

Condition

This Audemars Piguet 25594ST is in good pre-owned condition. There are hairlines on the bezel from prior wear as well as around the case. The dial is clean and the caseback remains in good condition. The bracelet shows little to no stretch and has some hairlines from prior use. The watch appears unpolished and the dial has aged to a light cream colour. The bracelet fits a wrist of up to 6.75”.
